Artelia, in a consortium lead by Espelia, carried out the first phase of this study, which aimed at selecting the insertion corridor and defining the insertion principles, and has been entrusted with the second phase of this preliminary study, based on the insertion principles validated in the first phase.

Scope of services:

Artelia examined technical insertion issues, such as station locations, detailed tramway vertical and horizontal alignment, environmental impact assessment and resettlement issues. 

Services included traffic surveys and creation of a mathematical model to accurately predict passenger volumes along the corridor (including origin-destination matrix, identification of key transport interchanges, maximum passenger load design conditions).  

ARTELIA also prepared a simple financial model which modeled revenue forecasts, operation & maintenance costs, investment cost estimate and funding costs. Recommendations for project implementation where given including detailed program, benefits to government of tramway and possibilities for public / private participation.
