Prefeasibility study for a BRT Line in Hanoi

Artelia, in a consortium lead by Espelia, carried out the first phase of this study, which aimed at selecting the insertion corridor and defining the insertion principles, and has been entrusted with the second phase of this preliminary study, based on the insertion principles validated in the first phase.

Scope of services:

The first phase consisted in defining the relevant corridors – desire lines – for the insertion of an BRT Line. The analysis of the current and future demand and needs was estimated on the basis of population – employment generations and known current and projected urban projects while analysing the insertion and performance conditions of the system. The choice of corridor was made on the basis of a comprehensive multi-criteria analysis.

The second phase concerns the insertion proposals for the selected route with the production of plans and sections, operating studies in order to calibrate the performance of the system (travel time, commercial speed, frequency and estimated ridership) as well as the operating issues (sizing of the fleet and type of rolling stock, operating conditions, priority at traffic lights, etc.), financial estimate, provisional schedule for commissioning, implementation methods and institutional organisation.
